What makes Stralsund and the surrounding area so attractive?

The Hanse city, Stralsund, is often called the gateway to the largest, and for many, the most beautiful Island in Germany. In 1234 this ageworthy locality was granted the rights of an official city.

The city has so much of interest to offer. There are numerous building monuments throughout the city, for example;

The gothic City Hall

The Sacred Brick (Backsteingotik)  Church

The former Holy Ghost (Heilgeist) monastery

The Marien Church

The Saint Jakobi Church

The Saint Nikolai Church

The former Saint Catharine´s Nunnery

Step by step history can be seen as many epoch styles are united here. Understandingly so, Stralsund was designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Another highlight is the Sea Museum which the 750 year old St. Catharine´s Nunnery is part of. Not only does Stralsund offer much history but also extensive parks and lakes, a large harbor area with numerous passenger ships and ferries, various leisure time arrangements,a public beach as well as so much more.

A visit is definitely worthwhile and Hotel AMBER warmly awaits your arrival.

Isle of Rügen

The Isle of Rügen comprises an area of 926 square kilometers and is in the truest sense of the word the largest and most beautiful Island in Germany. The variety and uniqueness of the Island enthuses visitors time and again.  Many poets and painters find inspiration for their works while visiting the Island.

The Island endeavors to maintain its peacefulness and nature.  The unique landscape, such as the flowing hills that protrude borderless wooded areas, mysterious bogs, the rough steep coast, gorgeous bays, and white sand beaches, are simply fascinating.
